Visit Marazion
Marazion is a popular beach resort and town in south-east Cornwall a few miles east of Penzance.
The town faces the sea across the very attractive Mount's Bay, a long sandy beach and also a great place to start walks along the coastal path.
In Marazion behind the beach there are numerous shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, along with a variety of art galleries and gift shops etc. The town has no outstanding individual monuments but is a pleasant, traditional and bustling place to explore. Although there is little to make you realise that you are visiting what is claimed to be england's oldest chartered town, there are a good number of attractive houses and cottages from more recent centuries.
There are numerous accommodation options in and around the town for visitors planning to spend a few days here exploring.
Places to visit near Marazion
The island of Saint Michaels Mount is just offshore and can be reached on foot across a causeway at low tide (or by boat at high tide).
There are several small villages, coves and beaches to discover very close to Marazion if you are looking for somewhere a little quieter, including the hamlet and beach at Perranuthnoe a few miles along the coast to the south-east from Marazion.
Marazion Marsh, to the west of the town, is a haven for wildlife and the trails through the marsh are very popular with nature lovers and bird-spotters.
Both Land's End and Lizard Point are within easy reach, and Marazion is well placed to explore this furthest reach of south-west Cornwall.
