Visit Lizard
Lizard is a small village close to Lizard Point in south-west Cornwall and about 11 miles south of Helston.
Given its location so close to Lizard Point it is no surprise that tourism is now the main industry in the village, with a wide selection of cafes and gift shops around the village green.
Visit the Church of Saint Wynwallows at Landewednack next to Lizard to see the most southerly church in Britain, a small church with a big tower in a curious mix of stone (alternating granite and serpentine) giving it almost a checkerboard design.
Lizard village is best known as a starting point for walks around the headland, either to Lizard Point itself, or heading west towards Kynance Cove or east towards Cadgwith - all directions have great coastal scenery and a chance to see the wild birds of the region.
You can find more local travel ideas in the Cornwall guide and the Cornwall guide.
