Visit Great Missenden

Wander along the High Street of Great Missenden, lined with shops in a pleasant mix of architectural styles, predominantly half-timbered or Georgian buildings. Its church is 14th century and there is a 12th century abbey.

On the High Street you will find the Roald Dahl museum and cafe. This is dedicated to the life and workds of Roald Dahl who lived in Great Missenden for 30 years of his life and wrote many of his books here.

Roald Dahl lived in Gipsy House in Great Missenden and every year its delilghtful garden is open to visitors as part of the National Gardens Scheme. (And if the planting has inspired you, you can pop over the road to the nursery to buy plants that are seen in the garden). Roald Dahl lovers will recognise many scenes from his stories as they wander round the garden.

As you wander around Great Missenden there are some beautiful cottages and houses to discover - often strewn with roses in traditional English style.
