Haltwhistle tourist information
The town of Haltwhistle is located east of Brampton in south-west Northumberland.
The town itself is a traditional, unspoiled Northumberland town with a church and all facilities, and easy access to a relatively unexplored region of the northumberland countryside.
The main 'draw' of the town for visitors is its proximity to Hadrian's Wall, with one of the most impressive and complete sections of the wall just a little way to the north of Haltwhistle.
It is also well placed to explore several castles:
- Bellister Castle (privately owned 14th century tower house and attached 19th century manor house)
- Featherstone Castle (castle and manor house in part dating from the 13th - 14th century)
- Thirlwall Castle (ruined 12th century castle, Greenhead)
